NEW MUSIC: Passenger Returns With ‘Anywhere’

We all remember Passenger’s voice from the hit of the year back in 2014 ‘Let Her Go’ and he returns to our ears with his new single ‘Anywhere’.

The track pulled from his forthcoming album ‘Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea’ is an upbeat song with a very catchy hook, perfect for the roof down drives along the coast line (wait, I’m dreaming it’s sunny but that is definitely not the case in Ireland right now).

Keep Dancing….. Strictly Line-Up Confirmed!

Yes, this Saturday (September 3rd) the most glitzy and sequinned TV show is back….. STRICTLY!

The line up has been confirmed for the 10th series of the BBC One hit show and surprisingly I know every person on it. The Beeb have gone all out this year to compete with the X Factor whom they have beaten the past 2 years in ratings but will it be the same this festive season.

Strutting onto the dance floor to impress judges Craig, Len, Darcy and Bruno are:

  • Louise Rednapp (singer and footballer Jamie Rednapps wife)
  • Anastacia (singer)
  • Laura Whitmore (TV presenter)
  • Greg Rutherford (Team GB Olympian)
  • Ore Oduba (sports presenter)
  • Danny Mac (played Dodger in Hollyoaks)
  • Daisy Lowe (model)
  • Naga Munchetty (newsreader)
  • Ed Balls (politician)
  • Will Young (Pop Idol winner)
  • Melvin Odoom (TV presenter and radio DJ)
  • Claudia Fragapane (Team GB gymnast)
  • Tameka Empson (plays Kim in Eastenders)
  • Judge Rinder (TV judge)
  • Lesley Joseph (actress)

Who could be this years winner? I am making early predictions for Danny Mac, Laura Whitmore and Louise Rednapp but there are a lot of good movers in the pack so watch this space.

NEW VIDEO: Coldplay – A Head Full Of Dreams

One of the biggest bands in the world are back with their fourth single from their album of the same name, A Head Full Of Dreams.

The band have just round off a whole summer of festivals as well as a world tour which astounded audiences over and over from their amazing music, quality production and we cannot forget the Xylo bands which are now synonymous with the band.

The video features clips from their tour and also some of their biggest festivals this year including Glastonbury where they headlined for the fourth time, the most any band has ever headlined the festival.

NEW MUSIC: Tove Lo Is A ‘Cool Girl’

I brought you the audio to this new release a few weeks ago and now we finally have a pretty cool video to go with it.

Fresh from her collaboration with Jonas Brother Nick on their hit ‘Close’ which raked up a number of weeks in the Top Ten both here and in the US, Tove Lo is ready to go it alone with ‘Cool Girl’.

The video features Tove Lo and friends cavorting on cars, burning motel rooms and breaking out into spontaneous dance routines at various locations around the sun kissed state.

Tove Lo is definitely an artist to keep an eye on and check out her previously released music now on YouTube, you won’t be disappointed:

Christmas Begins Tomorrow – It’s Back!

Yes, tomorrow night sees the return of one of the most talked about shows of the year, whether you love it or loathe it.

The X Factor returns this Saturday to ITV at 8pm with an all new judging panel (well returning judges) and our favourite host Dermot O’Leary is back on board to try and rescue the sinking ship.

Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell will be searching for the next Sam Bailey, Louisa Johnson, Ben Haenow, Leon Jackson or Matt Cardle…… yes I find it hard to remember them as well but we did get some credible pop acts at one time in the form of Little Mix, One Direction and Leona Lewis.

The show has been revamped with the smaller Room Auditions making a comeback, the bootcamp stage moved to a secret location and apparently a lighter feel to the harshness we have seen in recent years where people were put on TV to be humiliated. They just be taking notes from The Voice producers on this one.

Already I have seen some of the potential acts (most of which have been hand selected to audition and majority already have management) and we are in for a good year of talent if they don’t try to mess with them too much. We are also in for the traditional class clowns like Jedward, Chico, Rylan and Wagner which we love to watch and in the end they become more entertaining than the actual winners.

So in short, strap yourself in for the next 12 weeks and enjoy wannabe singers, has-been pop stars and a lot of tears and emotional back stories as X Factor kicks off.

For now, here is the first of the joke acts for this year and Nicole seems to love him:

TBT: Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

Rewind to the year I was born (1990) and you will find that NO.1 on this day 26 years ago was one of the most catchy yet cringe songs of all time.

She wore an ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ was the phrase that everyone was saying and the song that was stuck in everyones head for at least a year. The catchy summer song saw TV presenter Timmy Mallett take on the title of Bombalurina to release the single.

The video features a few ladies in the yellow polka dot bikini’s on a fake beach set but just remember back in the 90’s fake music video’s were all the rage.

This song is still a party favourite and no matter what age you are you know it and can sing along. Here it is to take you back and finish off your summer month of August with a bikini beach body feel.

Chatting With: BGT star Gabz

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with and asking Britains Got Talent star Gabz some questions about her music, career and highlights.

1. Who is Gabz? Tell us a bit about you.

I’m is a singer/songwriter, rapper & musician who loves music, food & her amazing supporters! 🙂

2. How was the Britain’s Got Talent experience?

It was amazing! It was the first time I’d done anything like that as I’d only ever performed at school and church before so I was really nervous & had no idea it would go as well as it did!

3. Are you still in contact with many of the BGT contestants?

Some of them. I follow a lot of the other contestants on twitter & we sometimes direct message & I’ve actually bumped into Jack & Cormac, Steve Hewlett, Jordan O’Keefe, Francine Lewis, Jack Carroll & Richard & Adam a few times since the show at events.

4. What has been your biggest achievement to date?

Definitely having my song Lighters (The One) reach number six in the Official UK Charts! I still can’t quite believe it!!

5. You’ve played pretty big gigs, which has been your favourite?

Gotta be the BlackPool iFest where they switch on the illuminations as the crowd was huge & I’m quite a fangirl & Lawson, Professor Green, The Vamps & loads more were there so I was excited meeting them & watching their sets.

6. Who are your musical influences?

Jessie J & Ed Sheeran. They’re both amazing singers but also their songwriting is incredible too! As a singer/songwriter it’s cool to see others doing both!

7. Your new track ‘Counting Scars’ has just been released, whats the story behind it?

The song’s about messing something up & being really upset about it. I left it quite open when writing it so that it can relate to people in different ways but for me the idea stemmed from me messing up my mock GCSE’s and being gutted with the results! Luckily that spurred me on to revise more for the real GCSE’s which went really well! 🙂

8. What can we expect next from Gabz?

Well the EP is available for Pre-order now & will have some really different songs on it from ‘Counting Scars’ which is a ballad, ‘Up’ which is up beat pop and also a dance track & some rapping so hopefully there’ll be something for everyone! But after the EP I’m hoping to start using my YouTube channel a lot more.

9. Whats your dream goal?

I’d love to be really successful in music, touring, writing, recording and hopefully being able to give back and do lots of charity work.

10. What would you say to young people looking to get into music like yourself?

It’s really hard work but don’t give up & just have fun!

TBT: Ed Sheeran Makes History

Rewind just 2 years to 2014 and ginger haired singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran made history.

He became the second male solo artist in history to spend 8 weeks at the peak of the UK Album Chart with his record ‘X’. The album which gave us songs including Sing, Bloodstream, Photograph and the multi platinum No.1 single ‘Thinking Out Loud’ became the second record to reach the feat of having 8 weeks at the summit with only James Blunt achieving the same in 2005 with his collection ‘Back To Bedlam’.

‘X’ went on to pick up Best British Album at the 2015 Brit Awards and was nominated for two Grammy’s (Best Vocal Pop Album and Album Of The Year). It is also the 6th best selling album in the UK of the decade with it going 8x platinum.

Here is the biggest selling song from that album, ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

NEW MUSIC: Mimsi ft Twissman & Starboi

’24 (I’m Yours)’ is the debut single from West London singer/songwriter Mimsi, featuring Twissman and Starboi. The edgy club track fuses hip-hop, trap, pop and dance to create a unique sound that has already won Mimsi the attention of BBC Introducing and Capital Xtra.

Mimsi has been studying songwriting and performing since childhood. She started her professional career working for Karl & Tim Blacksmiths (The Blacksmiths – the UK’s top remix team who have mixed Craig David, Alesha Dixon and many more). Tim Blacksmith is now one of the UK’s top music managers, managing producers such as Stargate. Mimsi has already enjoyed great success as a writer and is now ready to start her career as an artist in her own right.

24 was great fun to write but even better to film thanks to the strong and talented team involved in the whole process. Can’t wait to unleash my debut video to the world!” – Mimsi

Mimsi is currently working on her EP with producers Rockizm, Funkiipapa and Joe Black, who have worked with Big Narstie, Krept & Konan, Twissman, Ny Grey and many more.
