Big Brother UK Music Stars

So unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks you will know that Big Brother UK returns to screens this Tuesday at 9pm.

The Channel 5 show, now in it’s 17th series, will return with main show host Emma Willis and spin-off presenter Rylan taking the reigns on Bit On The Side.

But you’re not here to see what you already know, I am going to give you a run-down of the BBUK civilians who attempted to launch a music career either before or after they left the house. Strap yourself in, some of them are….. questionable!

First up is BB5 winner Nadia Almada, she lasted the full ten weeks in the house including the infamous Fight Night which was the most shocking event to ever come from the Elstree compound (where the show is produced). She also had numerous tantrums about cigarettes and head on collisions with arch nemesis Jason. However, she became victorious and the world was hers. She left the house and launched this single on us. Trust me, it is not the worst you are going to see.

Next, we move to the most recent series of BB16 last summer as Cristian, or CristianMJC as he wants to be known, attempts to deliver us a chart smashing rap. He let us all know on his way into the house that he was going to be a huge star in music however his whole YouTube channel content has been removed so maybe he is rethinking his career after his BB stint. This song has got about as much attention as last year’s series did!

2007 saw twins Sam and Amanda (Samanda) enter the house, two bubbly and slightly annoying Barbie girls. They were two of the series favourites but they could not stop Brian Belo from winning the crown that year. However, they left the house and quickly got to the recording studio to release this classic cover. BRING BACK AQUA!

Did someone just say it was nearly Christmas? (202 days to be exact). Well I have the perfect song for you from the winner of the first ever BBUK, Craig Phillips. He has gone on to present various DIY shows and unlike many contestants he has actually stuck around the entertainment business. You may remember him for being the guy who stood up to Nasty Nick and when he won he donated his prize money to a friend, who sadly died in 2008, who was having a heart and lung transplant. Here is his nod to the perfect Xmas song. Someone pass the mince pies!

Ok, I couldn’t have done this without giving a special mention to the one girl who wanted to be a BB housemate so much she went in pretending to be a pop star from a band called Kandyfloss (with a K). Chantelle Houghton became the only civilian to enter the Celebrity version but she let her mask slip during the talent show when asked to perform her hit single. I have seen some bad pop stars in my time but not one of them have needed the lyrics to their own hit song. She went on to win the series and then win a husband in the form of Celebrity housemate Preston, but the honeymoon didn’t last long and they divorced a year later.

So this isn’t music technically but anytime Nikki Grahame is mentioned with Big Brother, that is like music to my ears, she is the ULTIMATE housemate. I couldn’t write a BB blog without including her screaming and shouting somewhere. WHERE IS SHE? …….Below, check her out below!

Big Brother returns on Tuesday at 9pm on Channel 5 and TV3 Ireland.
